Root Canal Therapy
What is a root canal?
Root canal treatment is one of the most common of all dental procedures and it helps to preserve your natural teeth and prevents the need for dental bridges or implants.
The inside of your tooth is made up of a substance called pulp; it is a complex system of blood vessels and nerves. Over time the pulp can become infected due to crack or breaks in the teeth, deep decay or repeated dental procedures. Once the pulp is infected you can experience pain in the tooth or the gums, or the gums may swell causing the tooth to become very sensitive to pressure.
Root canals therapy is the process of removing this infected pulp while still retaining the natural tooth. This process is usually as painless as a normal filling restoration; however, it does take two appointments on average to complete. After the completed treatment we recommend a core build-up to replace any missing tooth structure followed by a crown for strenght.
